Birdies for Charity 2015

For the third year in a row, Wish Upon a Horse is participating in the Heritage Classic Foundation's Birdies for Charity Program.   We will be collecting pledges based on the number of birdies scored by the golfers during the 2015 RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing from April 13th-19th.

Birdies for Charity is like a walk-a-thon, but instead of donating per mile, participants either make a pledge for every birdie made during the tournament or make a flat donation of $25 or more.  At the conclusion of the tournament, an invoice will be emailed to our donors with the total amount due for their pledge.  Last year, a five-cent pledge per birdie (1240 scored) would have resulted in about a $60 donation.  Wish Upon a Horse will receive 100% of the money we raise in your name through Birdies for Charity, plus an additional 15% gift from the Heritage Classic Foundation.

You can show your support by making an online pledge at between now and April 10 and designating your donation to Wish Upon a Horse. After the tournament, the Heritage Classic Foundation will bill you for the amount of your commitment.

Your generous contribution will help Wish Upon a Horse continue to provide free therapeutic riding lessons to kids and adults with special needs.  Wish Upon a Horse currently serves about 50 students every week.  Our services are provided free of charge to all of our participants.

Need help making your online pledge? Contact Ali Pauluhn at or at 843.671.2586.  You can access the online pledge form from our home page at

Thank you for pledging on behalf of Wish Upon a Horse!  We appreciate your generous support!

Needing more volunteers

Wish Upon a Horse Therapeutic Riding Center at Lawton Stables is gearing up for another summer of service!  We have just wrapped up a fantastic school year where we enjoyed providing therapeutic riding lessons to kids from the Hilton Head Island Elementary, Middle, and High Schools’ special needs classrooms as well as other children and adults from the Beaufort County area.  We are looking forward to welcoming lots of visitors this summer and introducing them to the joys and benefits of therapeutic horseback riding.  As we gain new students we are also in need of more volunteers.  Did you know that for each student in a lesson we need three volunteers?  If you are looking for an amazing opportunity to help kids and adults with special needs in your community, look no further!  Don’t have any horse experience?  No problem!  We will train you to do everything from lead a horse to stabilize a rider.

WUAH Has Successful Fall Season

Wish Upon a Horse has successfully completed their inaugural session with 6 riders from the Hilton Head Middle School and 8 riders from the Hilton Head High School. We look forward to welcoming the Hilton Head Elementary School and High School this upcoming Winter session starting in January 2013!

Special Olympics Coach

Erin Sullivan, our PATH-certified instructor, has completed her certification for Special Olympics and is a qualified Special Olympics Coach. WUAH will be sponsoring qualified participants to attend the Special Olympics regional competitions in Columbia, SC. Stay posted for more information!

Congratulations to Erin Sullivan, our new PATH instructor!

Erin has completed her training with flying colors, and we are accepting new riders for our program.  We are able to work one-on-one with each rider through the summer, and welcome new participants!
